The island is very mountainous in its terrain and some of its mountain destinations re Mount Gimie and the Pitons mountains. Saint Lucia's capital is called Castries. The island is tropical in climate, but can be be very dry during the range of January to April.

The island is approximately 70 square miles and is made up of about 22,000 people. It's name in Spanish means "Turtle Island" and back in the 17th century it was a hot spot for pirates.

It is one of the most well-known areas of Haiti. The island was discovered by Columbus on his first trip to the "New World" and it was named Tortuga because of the way it is shaped.

The island is very rocky and has many trees. This island appears in the Pirates of the Caribbean films and a few other pieces of literature and cinematic works.
